First Grade uses Story Maker for Spelling Practice

Mrs. Lawler's class is incorporating technology into their normal routine and engaging students along the way. The students are working on their keyboarding skills and practicing their spelling words at the same time. These students chose four spelling words, typed them up using a website called Story Maker, and added their own illustrations. Using technology made this normal activity a little more exciting.

  1. What a great way to start incorporating keyboarding skills to get students ready for typing sentences and paragraphs on the computer. Plus it helps students learn their spelling words as well. What I may love even more is this begins paving the way for these students to have success as 3rd graders on the writing component of Aspire, since it is now computer based. Starting small with 1st graders to make a huge impact down the road. Way to go!!!
